Yeovil Pop up Shop Official Opening

This is unique business venture in Somerset, led by Special Educational Needs. Somerset Expertise (sen.se), with the support of charity Young Somerset and Somerset County Council. Sen.se is a partnership between special schools and specialist provision within Somerset.

Sense-ational Pop-up Shop is at 6 Vicarage Walk, Quedam Centre, Yeovil. Sense-ational appeared first in Taunton’s High Street last year. The aim is to have a series of outlets which will be popping up all over Somerset. All being run by young people (in term time) selling all the high-quality goods that they have been making over many months. Products range from gifts, ornaments, jams, silk scarfs, door stops, lavender and wheat bags to beautiful limited-edition paintings, cards, sweets and plants.

The pop-up shop demonstrates the power of collaboration, enabling partners to provide more opportunities for young people to gain valuable work experience and skills for life.

South Somerset District Council helped locate the premises in Yeovil and supported with the administration. The Quedam Centre supported the project by leasing the premises for free. The project so far has been a major success and was chosen as a finalist in the Somerset Education Business Partnership Awards 2019, nominated for the Careers Inspiration in Education Award.
