Deputy Head Teacher Vacancy - Sky College

Deputy Headteacher

Salary: Leadership Scale L11 – L19

Are you a leader that feels stuck or are looking for something completely different?

Do you have the energy, enthusiasm and experience to lead Teaching and Learning in a rapidly expanding and developing school?

Are you ready for a challenge that will develop you as a practitioner and support the most amazing young people in the education system?

Do you have what it takes to nurture our amazing staff team, to support the continued development of the quality of our provision and improve the life chances of the young people we serve?

If this sounds like you then there is an exciting opportunity for you at Sky College in Taunton, Somerset.  We are looking for a first-class practitioner who has a proven track record of excellence in the classroom and a good working knowledge of SEN, to join our Senior Leadership Team at a crucial time as we steer a rapidly improving good school on our journey to becoming an Outstanding Centre of Excellence in Special Education.  Working with the head teacher and the governors you will help to set the vision for the school for the coming years. You will be supported by an ambitious and dedicated leadership and staff team who live and breathe their work.

Sky College is an SEMH specialist provision for boys between the ages of 10-17 with an onsite weekly boarding provision for up to 10 students.  We use holistic and personalised support to help our young people address their barriers and reach their full potential. You will become an integral part of the improvement plan, working closely with the head of specialism to create innovative and exciting learning opportunities for the young people in our care. You will construct and deliver new and exciting ways to engage our boys and be able to enthuse and lead an outstanding staff team to deliver high quality learning in the classroom.

The next 12 months at Sky will see some considerable developments including new buildings, increasing our numbers on roll by 50%, collaborative working opportunities and the potential to academise. You will have the opportunity to bring your experience to bear on current practice and to work with the leadership and staff team to shape the provision for the next few years.

In short, we are looking for someone with vision and ambition, who has the ability to lead, motivate and inspire; a change agent who can implement plans in a sensitive, caring and supportive way. A person who genuinely cares about young people as individuals, no matter what their needs, and can work with and relate to young people who have found education a challenge.  Ultimately we are looking for someone who is able to build on the work that has begun to break through the barriers of low aspiration, and support the creation of a climate of success and achievement for all.
